Kodiak Maritime Museum is a 501C3 non-profit museum. Our mission is “To recognize, preserve, and interpret Alaska’s maritime heritage.” We have been doing this work since 1992. Some of our projects include oral histories, the restoration and exhibit of the salmon fishing vessel Thelma C, a series of 14 interpretive panels on Shelikof St., and most recently, the installation of more than 40 large-format portraits of people who lived through Kodiak’s legendary King Crab era.

The Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association (KRAA) is dedicated to salmon fisheries development for the benefit of all common property users — subsistence, sport, and commercial — through research and management efforts, habitat monitoring and protection, stocking, enhancement and rehabilitation projects. KRAA operates two state-owned hatcheries: Pillar Creek Hatchery and Kitoi Bay Hatchery. Combined, these two facilities produce pink, chum, coho, and sockeye salmon. Additionally, rainbow trout and king salmon are incubated and reared at Pillar Creek Hatchery through a cooperative agreement with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
